The IC-7200 has an excellent balance between cost and performance. With a front panel layout friendly to beginners and digital functions to satisfy an experienced operator the IC-7200 is an ideal first rig or a portable solution for the field.
Class leading IF DSP and DSP functions inside the AGC loop allows you to pull in that faint DX station overrun by neighboring communications.
With the IC-7200 you will not have to install additional filters! Out of the box the IC-7200 allows you to choose the shape of the filter (sharp or soft). Use the sharp filter option when you want full audio response of the desired signal with a sharp cutoff at the pass band edge. A soft filter shape gives a gentler sound to the targeted signal with a similar slope to the sharp filter but rounding off the high and low ends of the passband.
Twin passband tuning gives you the option to adjust the upper and lower edges of the IF filter. Narrow the filter to zero in on your desired signal or shift the entire passband manually. Total freedom with the passband means not relying on other operators to come to you. Why wait for the fish to come to you when you can go to the fish!
The IC-7200 also has 16 step Noise Reduction and 100 steps to adjust Noise Blanker level and width. Use Noise Reduction to reduce background noise and improve signal-to-noise ratio. The Noise Blanker is used to reduce pulse-type noise like engine ignition -- very handy when installed in a vehicle or running on generator power.
Icom has integrated technologies used in their marine radios to the front panel of the IC-7200 protecting against water intrusion. Though the radio itself is not water proof the front panel is protected against moisture and spills. Rear bumpers protect the connectors on the rear panel during storage or transport. Icom also provides two optional handle solutions. Front handles (MB-116) for rack-type storage also provide protection to the control panel and a side handle with feet (MB-117) gives you the convenience of storing or operating the IC-7200 standing up on its side.
A USB port for CI-V format PC control and a smaller footprint make the IC-7200 a versatile option for rig control. With the IC-7200 this versatility does not have to come at the expense of options. With a USB cable and rig control software the IC-7200 can be stored under your desk or in a cabinet. Modular and received audio can also be transferred over a USB connection. This means digital mode operation without an additional interface, all you need is a USB cable and appropriate software!
Additional features (yes, there's more) include 201 memory channels, 6kHz roofing filter, VOX, adjustable LCD backlight, quick split operation, and front-facing speaker. A dedicated button for the built-in voice synthesizer greatly simplifies operations for visually impaired hams.
Whether you are new to Amateur Radio, looking for a great portable rig, or you just want another great radio in your shack the IC-7200 is the solution.
Custom Paint
Now you can add a unique touch to your IC-7200 with a paint job! GigaParts offers an alternative to a standard black radio with a Camouflage, Olive Drab, Orange and Pink finishes. To complete this transformation, GigaParts technicians expertly remove the front bezel along with the top and bottom covers of the radio. Those items, along with a set of MB-116 front handles are delivered to a local company whose skilled craftsmen then mask, prep, and prime the components.
After a base coat of paint has been applied and has dried, a camouflage pattern printed on a special film is placed on the surface of water in a large vat. The film dissolves in the water leaving the pattern floating on the surface which is then sprayed with an activating agent. Each component is then dipped into the water through the floating layer of liquefied pattern which adheres to the component. The components are then washed and dried before a final protective matte clear coat is applied.
