Came fast, well packaged with tubes installed. Puts out 800w, reliable thus far, enough power to make a difference to DX stations. Ordered 10/12m mod for this amp from Gigaparts. They performed the mod but left the wire they cut exposed and it contacted the chassis of the amp, giving me very high input swr until I figured it out and covered the exposed wire. Since then it has worked fine but that seems like such a basic mistake on gigaparts' behalf.

Wouldn't you know it!!! Stopped working one week after review. I mailed it in and the gentleman working there by himself because of covid 19 had it back to me in one months time. I never did get a list of what was wrong with it but he did replace one tube because he felt that the seal between the glass and socket was weak but it still worked. Something went wrong and they fixed it. It works great again and that's what counts. The four star is because of the breakdown.
As for Giga Parts, I purchased the platinum warranty. The technician said I needed to call and get an RMA. Well, Ameritron as well as Mirage which I think are both MFJ, do not require a RMA to mail in your amp. Just mail it in and make sure they know who to return it to. Don't expect a written breakdown of what went wrong with the amp because you wont get it right now.
Giga Parts furnished the shipping label to mail it to Ameritron and have them mail it back to me so I was only out my time to get it to the Fedx store. Really all in all, great service and they exhibit a willingness to excel on all counts as well as a full team effort to resolve your issue when it presents itself. They still get five stars in my book. Special thanks to Sue. She knows why.

Excellent job putting the 10-12 meter kit in. It works in the AUX position which was not mentioned in the manual. I have owned it for six months now and love it. Can't put out 800 watts on 10-12 meter but can get 450-500. All the other meters, 800 would be no problem but I don't run it that high. I don't do more than 700 in really bad DX situations but I get plenty of calls through with 500-600 and get good reports on clarity of signal no matter how much power I am using. I know I can get 800 watts because I have seen it when adjusting the {input=exciter} up but never leave it there.
The unit came packaged with the tubes in and I believe the reason is because they tested their install of the 10-12 meter kit. They were wrapped in a foam type material and were protected to the max.
I really like the unit. The instructions on how to tune it up is a bit lacking and I would give that *** but there are enough youtube illustrations that you can learn a lot there and tune it right. Read the instructions, watch some video's and then use it for the first time if you don't know exactly what you are doing. You don't want to burn up your new amp or start destroying the tubes when you first start using it. I fired up mine and let it idle for an hour before I started using it. I learned that with guitar amps I have purchased through the years and applied it here just because.
Another tip is make a chart of the different frequencies that you use and the tuning of your tuner and amp for that freq. I did it in excel and it is great. I run to a freq. then check my chart and adjust accordingly and I am so close it's almost ready to go without turning a knob.
So far, if I had a choice to buy another amp, it would be this one. If I had a chance to buy it from GigaParts again, I would.
I will check back in after a year and update my review if anything has changed.

The best bang for the buck

First a big, huge shout out to GigaParts for the shipping department....never ceases to amaze me of how fast items are shipped and received. SECOND one of the largest concerns I had prior to purchase was the ability to have the linear received with NO damage (gotta love UPS and FedEx) the way this thing is packaged is anything short of miraculous....I have never seen a more well built package job then what I received...Thirdly absolutely operates as it should and if in doubt about the 10/12 MOD, just pull the trigger on it....well worth it.

A month or so ago I purchased a new AL-811H from GigaParts. I couldn't be happier with both the deal I got on the Amp, the great service from GigaParts, and the performance of the amplifier itself. I love to chase DX and the 100 Watts from my trusty Kenwood TS-590S wasn't enough to get through the pile ups. The first time I used the amplifier, I was amazed at how many immediate replies I got to my call. Now I can bust through the pileups with confidence. Great Amplifier, great price and great service!
