The Yaesu FT-60R 144/430 MHz Dual-Band HT is a versatile handheld transceiver designed for two-way amateur communications. It offers extensive receive-frequency coverage, including a wide band from 108 to 520 MHz and 700 to 999.990 MHz (cellular blocked). The FT-60R features a new-generation Emergency Automatic ID (EAI) system, specifically designed for Search-and-Rescue operations.
Key features include a large LCD display, high power output of 5W, and a Ni-MH long-life battery (FNB-83, 7.2 V, 1,400 mAh) for extended usage. The package includes a PA-48B Charger and SBH-13 Charging Stand for convenient power management. Programmable keys enhance user convenience, and the transceiver supports split CTCSS/DCS and DCS encode-only capability.
With its compact size, the FT-60R is portable and suitable for various activities such as hiking, skiing, or casual use around town. The rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery Pack (FNB-83) provides up to 5 Watts of transmit power on the 144 MHz and 430 MHz Amateur Bands. In addition to transceiver operation, the FT-60R covers receive frequencies in the VHF and UHF TV bands, VHF AM aircraft band, and a wide range of commercial and public safety frequencies, offering a comprehensive communication solution.

A very good radio. Battery life is adequate for my needs. Range is excellent using high power and the stock antenna. There's something to be said for having a squelch knob instead of setting a number. The red LED display illumination allows you to view the display without being too bright. It can get loud, too, for when you need it. I would buy this again.

Great First Radio

I have had my ticket for several years but haven’t done much, if anything, during that time.......mostly due to frustration. My cheap “starter” handheld was difficult for me to program. Fast forward to last week, I bought a FT-60R. Programmed it with a quick start guide found online. I love it. Perfect for a new user and all of my previous frustration is gone. This is a great radio at a great price. Also, I ordered at lunch time on Tuesday and my radio was delivered Wednesday. I don’t have a negative thing to say about the radio or my transaction with Gigaparts!

This has to be the best affordable real HT you can buy! A proven workhorse that will last many years. No wonder why it's many peoples first radio. What's not to like about it. No wonder why they made these for many years. If mine were lost or ruined, I'd buy another.

I have only had this radio for a few days, but it has worked very well for me since I have had it. I've been using it since the first day I received it and it is user friendly and easy to setup. I was looking around for quite some time for a radio that was bigger and fits well in the hand, and this was it. The size of the radio is great and so was the price.
