Nice Battery Box with limited current capability. Only the binding posts can handle 30A.

I purchased two of these for POTA. The main output PowerPoles located on either side of the binding posts are rated at 30A. The wiring inside the battery box uses #12 AWG from the battery hookup to the binding posts. However, then #14 AWG is used from the binding posts to the 30A PowerPoles. When I tested the boxes with my FT-991A I noticed the max power output was lower than normal. Output was between 5 and 15 watts less than when the radio is connected directly to my battery. My FT-991A was connected using two of the 30A PowerPoles. Obviously a single pair of the PowerPoles was unable to provide even the 23A needed by my FT-991A to transmit full power.
I considered rewiring the PowerPoles inside the box to use #12 AWG. It seemed easier to just add two more PowerPoles to my FT-991 power cord for a total of four plugs (2 Red 2 Blk). After adding a second set of PowerPoles (30A -w- #12 AWG) to my power cable I now have full output power on my FT-991A.
NOTE about Size: My Bioenno BLF-1230AS batteries fit perfectly into these battery boxes. The batteries (8.8 L in. × 3.8 in. W × 6.9 in. H) are taller than the given battery box dimensions (Interior: 10.9” L x 6.75” H x 5.75” W) , but there is room in the lid for clearance.
Overall they are good quality and really make portable operation easier.

Good Layout

It is made of a box that has the thick plastic. I love the long wires so you can hook up whichever battery you want to use. It has plenty of outlets for hooking up your radio and other accessories that you need when you are out in the field with no external power. Haven't gotten out yet, but I have the battery and everything I need to start doing POTA. It is worth the money.

I have been looking for a power box off and on for several months while I got my other gear together in preparation for the 26 year.
This little box has it all! Plenty of ports, AND a voltmeter to boot! You really can’t make one for less!

I just bought my second of these. I think the build quality has actually improved. The product is accurately described by GP.
Would buy again. Probably will buy another. Like potato chips.

Worth the $$$

I've built many DIY battery boxes. But after calculating the cost of all of the connectors, wiring etc. this box made sense. Decent quality and will do fine for limited current operation. Recommended.
