The tuner works well. You really can't beat it for the price. MFJ had to replace the inductor coil after using the tuner for four weeks. However, they promptly repaired the tuner and got it back to me in under 7 days. I am quite pleased.

Good manual tuner

The tuner is great and works with my end-fed wire as well as 'tweeking' my vertical to get the SWR as low as possible. The internal dummy load is a real plus and I use it often. I bought this instead of an automatic tuner because of the high duty-cycle on FT8 and other digital modes. I can find nothing negative about the MFJ - 949E except it's a tad larger than I expected (because of the inductor size and the dummy load), but I must not have fully reviewed the specs. Overall, it's a reliable, easy to use manual tuner.

I have other MFJ produuctd with which I'm happy, but not this one. It failed out of the box. I should have sent it back to the dealer, but tried to fix it with help from MFJ techs, but failed so sent it in for repair. They take eight weeks after receipt to either repair or replace a defective product. On the good side, the MFJ warranty covers about everything that can happen to their products during their warranty period, including customer screwups. Therefore three months after purchasing it, I still can't rate the product, and that if the fault of MFJ, thus the one star.
