I Agree...Fun To Use
Review by Dennis
Initially, I too had an issue connecting to wi-fi but Veritium support talked me through it. They key for me was to temporarily connect a CAT5 cable from the unit to my router, boot the unit up and download the latest firmware. All good with wi-fi after that. I did call support the following day and asked them to walk me through the many features. Gino did that with enthusiasm!

The manual is now online in PDF format and does a pretty good job of explaining things. The Quick Start doc that came with the unit was out of date, and Gino explained that it was probably due to Gigaparts having some slightly older stock on hand.

I have a 32 inch display hanging on the wall above my rig and it's working out quite well for me.

The PI model has four USB ports and the HDMI port for video. I use a USB mouse to click around on the screen.

Gino tells me the firmware is updated pretty often, and that added features are often driven by user feedback. The next big feature will be the ability to rotate your antenna by clicking to a spot on the map (and I presume one could click on a DX spot in the DX Cluster window as well). Very cool!

This is a feature laden product and I'm having a great time with it.

Gino at Veritium is obviously excited about it too judging by our telephone conversation!

Five stars in my opinion!

Fun to Use, Mostly Works, Needs User Instructions
Review by JAL
This is a preprogramed pi computer in a box that can drive an HDMI display with your call sign, UTC time, Local Time, Solar Flux, Band Conditions, Solar SDO Composite, World Map, Satellite Tracking, DE-DX distance and direction, Real Time Beacon indicators and a news feed. Pretty much most things work out of the box. The white ball on the screen is not a defect, but is a depiction of the phase of the moon!

Despite liking this device, I am giving it 4 stars as there were some definite issues in my hands. The most important issue is that although I could connect successfully to my wireless network using this box, I could not get a usable Internet connection over wireless. Luckily, I had a wired ethernet option and that works just fine. Secondly, the unit has an option to turn the display on and off at a certain time. This option does not seem to work on my display. Finally, other than a small note on how to setup the computer, I did not receive any instructions on how to use the unit. I was able to watch online reviews of the wooden clock version of this unit and mostly I feel I understand how to use this unit. The wooden clock version comes with a printed "manual." I would encourage the manufacture of this fun little box to publish the "manual" in PDF format online.
