After a direct lightning strike that wiped out my shack I bought this antenna for use with the ICOM IC-7300 HF Transceiver.
The AH710 comes with 100 ft. coax which barely made it to my shack, as I mounted it (more like hung it lol) about 30 feet up a hill in three trees in my backyard.
Even though it was hung in a shoddy manner I get really good results with this folded dipole. I can reliably propagate from West Virginia to Seattle, Portland & California, even British Vancouver - many contacts in GA, AL, TX, and CO. - I have a high ridge so my contacts eastward are more selective in MA, NY, PA, and FL at 100 watts.
I ordered some Mastrant (Nylon cord) and some pulleys to hang it from 3 points. (ends & middle) - The rope that comes with it will probably not be enough length and seems less than desirable in comparison to the higher quality weather & seasonal resistant mastrant.
My HF rig 180 mtrs-6 mtrs does very well using an MFJ autotuner which seems more efficient than the built-in tuner on the transceiver.
The RG8 COAX included (100ft.) is a bit on the 'cheap' side, but I felt okay since it came from ICOM.
Don't forget the dielectric gel and moldable weatherproofing tape.
Length approx. 80 feet.
Fairly heavy in the box.
