Strange antenna with a lot of counterpoise wire laying on the ground
Review by
Jamey
I use the Comet HFJ-350M with enough counterpoise wire to fulfil the directions to get on each band. I find I can break up the counterpoise and arrange them as radials. My antenna works on 160, 80, 75, 60, 40, 30, 20 and 12 and 10 meters. The only downsides to this antenna is having to walk outside to the antenna to switch bands, and it is not fully weather proof. I made a plastic pipe cover for it.
I have used this antenna to send and receive FT8 code to Norway, Puerto Rico and Japan. I have used the antenna to receive from all over the world, all seven continents. Mine was a gidt and cost $110 from Gigaparts.
My ATU-100 automatic antenna tuner makes exact tuning easy.

Perfect for the IC-705 and LC-192 combo
Review by

I have attached this antenna to the side of the Icom IC-705 / LC-192 backpack combo.
With a single light gauge insulated counterpoise wire around 8m in length, it works great. No tuner is needed! Low SWR can be obtained on all bands by adjusting the telescopic whip length.
I have made many 'pedestrian mobile' contacts on 40m at 5 watts, out to 1500km over the last few days. It works as well as it possibly could for such a small antenna. It's a keeper.
