Messi and Paoloni UltraFlex 7 Coax Cable: Outperforming Larger Cables with
Extraordinary Flexibility
Messi and Paoloni UltraFlex 7 Coax Cable is a compact yet high-performance
solution, designed to outclass larger cables like RG213/U and RG8 despite its
smaller 7.3mm (.287") dimension. This unique cable offers extraordinary
flexibility, making it ideal for applications requiring tight bends and
dynamic movement, such as with rotor antennas.
UltraFlex 7 combines the practicality and manageability of smaller cables with
the robust performance typically found in 10mm coax. It's perfectly suited for
portable use, CB radio, modem 4G/LTE, patch cords, and jumpers (for lab
setups, amplifiers, etc.). Its excellent signal extension capabilities also
make it a prime choice for Wi-Fi, 2G, 5G Router, and Hotspot connections. Its
reliability and performance have earned it the distinction of being selected
as the official coax for the World Radiosport Team Championship (WRTC) in 2018
and 2022.
The cable's robust construction features a UV-resistant black PVC jacket
(overall Ø 7.3mm ± 0.15) for durability in outdoor environments (note: PVC
sheaths are not suitable for direct burial). The inner conductor is made of
19x0.38mm copper wires (overall Ø 1.9mm ± 0.15), providing both excellent
conductivity and the flexibility needed for demanding installations. The
dielectric is a triple-layer, high-pressure physical injection foamed
polyethylene (overall Ø 5mm ± 0.05), contributing to its impressive 83%
velocity ratio and low capacitance of 75 pF/m.
Superior shielding is a hallmark of UltraFlex 7. It incorporates a 100%
screening copper foil (with an applied PE-layer to prevent cracking due to
short radius bends) and a reactive braid with 83% screening from 144 copper
wires. This braid is produced on advanced 24-spool machines (compared to
standard 16-spool), resulting in 50% more crossovers. This design grants
exceptional Screening Attenuation (SA) and allows the braid to react like a
spring to twisting and bending. The combined shielding achieves a
Screening Efficiency (SA) of >105 dB from 100-2000 MHz,
earning it a Screening Class A++.
With an impedance of 50 Ohm ± 3 at 200Mhz and a maximum peak power handling of
8,000 Watts, UltraFlex 7 can support significant power levels. It offers a
tight minimum bending radius of 68mm (2.68 in) for up to 15 bends and 34mm
(1.34 in) for a single choke bend, providing remarkable adaptability for
various installation scenarios. The cable operates reliably across a wide
temperature range from -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F).
