M&P Self-Tightening Silicone Rubber Tubular Gasket
This self-tightening silicone rubber tubular gasket is designed for cables with diameters of Ø7.3 mm (.287"), Ø10.3 mm (.400"), or Ø12.7 mm (.500"). It's compatible with any of M&P's related connectors and adapters, with the exception of 7/16 and right-angle connectors if the gasket is installed before insertion.
The M&P Silicone Seal is a reliable and optimal tubular gasket that quickly forms a tight, hermetic, and seamless seal for male-female connections or connector-adapter-connector assemblies. No flame or heat is required for installation. It also serves as a handy strain relief, increasing the tensile strength between the cable and connector.
The M&P Silicone Seal comes factory-expanded and assembled onto a removable plastic core. As the core is unwound from the inside, the pre-stretched M&P silicone seal shrinks to form a thick, tight tubular gasket. It retains its resiliency and pressure even after years of aging and exposure to UV rays, acids, condensation, and harsh environments. The operating temperature range is -60°C to 90°C (-76°F to 194°F).
It has a flammability rating of V-0: burning stops within 10 seconds on a vertical specimen, and dripping of particles is allowed as long as they are not inflamed.
Product Dimensions (before shrinking):
- Small: approximately 3.23 inches x 1.38 inches
- Large: approximately 5.71 inches x 1.38 inches
How to Use:
- Once the connectors are assembled on the two cable sections you want to connect, insert one of the sections inside the M&P Silicone Seal and slide it sideways over the cable jacket.
- After tightening the connectors to each other, slide the M&P Silicone Seal over the connectors to be protected.
- While holding the M&P Silicone Seal in place, pull the protruding strip found inside one end of the white supporting plastic core (following the direction of the red arrow). Ensure the black silicone rubber placed over the plastic core is well-centered over the connectors to be protected, as this operation is not reversible.
- As you continue to pull the strip (which will come off in a free spiral), the black silicone rubber will shrink, deprived of its plastic core support. It will permanently settle on the cable and connectors, embedding them very tightly.
This high-speed operation requires no flame or heat, allowing you to work confidently in cold and windy environments or on top of towers, ensuring a professional and durable result!
