This is not a compromise antenna

I’m stunned how well this antenna has worked out for me. I’ve been mostly qrp but bought the ‘mp’ version when I want to use 100 watts. This is antenna is a safe bet. Just try and keep it straight when you deploy it with the center around 20 feet or so and the end height isn’t to critical but 5’ high at both ends works great for me. Love it for 80 meters qrp. I don’t even ground it. To see it in action on my winter field day: https://youtu.be/YzsNIFEr07I On that deployment, I just had one end going up a tree. So it works that way fine as well.

I bought this MFJ-1982MP antenna a few months ago as my first antenna to go with my Kenwood TS-830s, no amp. I strung it up at 25 feet and to be honest, I didn't really expect a lot, maybe make a few contacts in neighboring states. So I joined a net and was pleasantly surprised that I was able to make contacts all across the country. I was amazed when I logged a contact with Alaska, over 3,000 miles from my QTH. Then the DX contest came along and found that I was able to work virtually the world with this antenna. I logged Australia, Hawaii, Croatia, Italy, and Japan to name just a few. I may eventually get a "better" antenna, but until someone proves to me that I need to spend thousands of dollars, this one is doing everything I could ask for. A hundred watts and this wire will cover a lot of territory.

Bought this antenna as a back-up and traveler. Also, purchased a DiPole for the base station but had many problems with it. After many attempts to correct the problem, I gave up and used the "back-up antenna" and found such a great working antenna, the I will order one more for the back-up position. This thing is working so good, the other night I talked to a station in Odessa texas with 50 watts, and he was running 600Watts. So, you can see I'am more than just happy, I'm sold on the long wire design. This is going to be my goto set-up for the forseeable future.
