Overall

A great dual band radio that's easy to mount in a vehicle

I bought this radio from Gigaparts to mount in my 2008 Chevrolet Avalanche so that I can routinely access my local 2 meter repeater while driving. The transceiver did not come with brackets, but both are readily available. The control cable was included, which made installation a breeze after brackets were purchased. With a good NMO mount antenna, I can access several local repeaters with the available output power of 50 watts. Overall, I am delighted with the purchase of this transceiver, and I find it to be an excellent value for the price paid. Thanks again for having what I needed and shipping it lightning fast, Gigaparts!

I don’t do much VHF/UHF, but I bought this to install in my truck. The black backlight is much easier on the eyes at night. This radio does just enough of what I need it to do.

Memory Banks - Ease of Use - Nice Display - Versatility

I chose this over the FTM-150R ASP because this 2730 has memory banks. I have a brand loyalty to Yaesu but their reluctance to add Memory Banks sent me to this 2730b. There isn't anything real fancy about it but that may be why it is such a joy to use. I have it in my truck and large menu characters make it easy to navigate and read when on the road. I am glad I got the black screen because I think that aids in readability and is especially nice at night because my eyes don't have to adjust to bright display. I have it modded and it can be used with split-tone GMRS repeaters on DCS (if you wanted that for emergency access). Can't say how glad I am to have chosen this radio. I highly recommend it.
