I give the AB-1612 an A+
Review by

I can’t imagine what I was expecting but the AB-1612 Universal Vertical Tilt Base Mount is an amazing piece of engineering. Not only is the base bracket and tilt bracket made from quality material, they fit together like a glove. The U-bolts are sized to fit a variety of mast sizes and all hardware is quality stainless steel. The base bracket not only has predrilled holes for the U-bolts, tilt bolts, and locking bolts, it also includes a convenient hole to attach a grounding wire and ground radials. If you are not mounting the tilt base to a mast that you’ve cemented into the ground using the U-bolts, there are holes you can use to mount the base to a flat surface, fence post, or 4x4 post. While the instructions included are brief, the included illustration and parts list are more than enough for assembly and installation. I did notice the parts list included 3/8” and 5/16” hardware used for the U-bolts and pivot/lock bolts, they omitted 4 other bolts, nuts, and washers presumably intended for the ground/ground radials, etc. The only error in the instructions that might cause some user confusion is the reference to 5/8” bolts used after raising the antenna to lock the tilt bracket to the base. I believe it should read that 5/16” bolts are used in this step. Overall, I would give the AB-1612 an A+.

I agree with the other Dave below about BTV mounting
Review by

Well, I put the (2009) 6-BTV up on it today and also discovered that the plate is a little short (doesn't really matter) and while there are upper holes that match the antenna base, the lower ones are too far apart by about half the hole diameter (each), which will make drilling them out difficult. For $120 for two pieces of aluminum and some hardware, correct holes for mounting an antenna that has been in production since (literally) the last century should be included.

The surface finish is beautiful; now if I only didn't have to put it outdoors! Plenty of hardware supplied.

I bought this for an Hustler 6-BTV and the plate is too short and the holes don't match up.

Almost a work of art

This is a well-made unit that I am excited to mount my antenna onto. The surface finish is beautifully done. The hardware is overbuilt, and the overall design is more than capable. The price is well below what its actual value. I can highly recommend this tilt base.

Works Well

Installed this with my antenna on my roof and it allows me to work on the antenna away from the edge without worry. Easy to loosen and tilt down to work on the antenna and then lift back into place without a problem.
My only complaint is the instructions that come with are bare minimum which this isn't really rocket surgery but there was some stuff left over after the install. There's spacers in the package that aren't even mentioned in the instructions, small bolts that I have no clue what they go to but possibly for mounting options and a few odds and ends that I have to assume are for things that I didn't need in my particular setup.
Overall it works well and seems solidly made.
