20M Extra-Long Telescopic Antenna
MFJ’s premium stainless steel telescopic whips are the perfect choice for building collapsible multi-band dipoles, mobiles, portable and base antennas. They are great for traveling, mini DXpeditions, vacations, etc.
They can also be used to replace your current automatic screwdriver whip for a more highly efficient fixed mobile operation.
Rigidly collared at the base, stronger than plated brass, and impervious to rust and corrosion, they stand up to the forces of nature and the rigors of portable operation where others might fail.
With four models to choose from, select the ideal length for the frequencies you need to cover.
The base of each whip features a standard ⅜ - 24 mounting stud for installation on mobile or fixed antenna mounts like MFJ’s lip mounts, magnet mounts, tripods and dipole mounts. See page 63 for more MFJ mounts.
For ¼ Wave verticals, use MFJ-342T or MFJ-344 mounts. For dipoles, use two whips with the MFJ-347 dipole mount.

MFJ-1979 Telescopic Whips
When you're looking for a full size mobile HF antenna with no compromise, consider one of these MFJ 1979 Telescopic Whips.
MFJ's premium stainless steel MFJ 1979 telescopic whips are 16.9 ft. long fully extended and are the perfect choice for building collapsible multi-band dipoles, mobile antennas, or portable or base antennas. They are great for traveling, mini DX-peditions, vacations, and anywhere a long, strong, and conveniently sized antenna might be used. They can also be used to replace your current automatic screwdriver whip for a more highly efficient fixed-mobile operation. The MFJ 1979 telescopic whips collapse to only 27 in. for easy packing and travel.
Rigidly collared at the base and stronger than plated brass, they are impervious to rust and corrosion. They stand up to the forces of nature and the rigors of portable and mobile operation where others might fail. The base of each whip features a standard 3/8 x 24 mounting stud for installation on a variety of mobile or fixed antenna mounts, including tripods and mini-dipole mounts.
The beauty of these antennas is that you can operate a full quarter wave on 6, 10, 12, 15, 17 and 20-meters WITHOUT a loading coil! Just be sure that your mobile operation takes wind-loading, trees, and overpass-height into account. When fully extended, these are purely stationary antennas
