It works and gets you on the air

I bought the Comet version of this antenna about 4 years ago and I've added 3 new countries to my list of countries (32 total) I don't hear alot of stations the others hear sometimes but it gets me out on the air (the performance is as expected from a multi- band antenna ) I'm getting like I said it gets you out on the air assembly was easy had it together in about half hour and up at the minimum hight of 33ft on my roof all in all it's a great starter antenna for a new ham or someone with very little space for antennas

Very disappointed

Been transmitting on 20 meters for two weeks and have made ZERO contacts! Does not work on 20 meters at all. Bands tune fine, but transmit is terrible. Do not recommend this antenna.

A lot of bang for the buck!

Had the antenna together and in the air in less than 30 minutes. I followed the instruction to the "T" with the small exception of me using weather seal silicone on each adjoining tubing and then wrapping around the joint with a high-grade weather resisting tape to keep moisture out (this was done after testing the SWR's). Then using my old MFJ-249 Antenna Analyzer I checked SWR's on all HF bands and 6 meters. I was very pleased with the low SWR's on all bands. The antenna is flat on 20 meters and all other bands nothing was above 1.6 with the exception of 6 meters and it was a 2.0. Overall, I am very pleased with the antenna. I made a good contact on 10 meters from Baytown, Texas into Wyoming, but as Jeremy mentioned in his review, I wasn't given a strong signal report. I have to agree with him on making ground radials. Also, the antenna does need good height to receive at it's best.

Where do I start

This antenna receives great on all frequencies. Transmitting is another story. Although it tunes all of the band's to under 2:1 SWR, I don't believe it is really that efficient. It's 23 feet up and above she roof line, no trees or metallic structures nearby, and no power lines. I can hear Europe, South America and the continental states. On 100 watts, I'm lucky to get about a 3x3 reports from even nearby stations. I'm currently building a ground radials field, before I add an amp. I'll follow up after I test.
