Nice Radio

This is a great looking radio and is very well made.
Receive is great. There is a little learning curve to it but not as hard as a digital scanner I own....
I am very pleased with this purchase a look forward of many years using this radio.
Shipping was super fast and it was well packaged
It's a winner in my book! You will love it too.

Super Value

I bought this radio new for less than $900. For that price, competition can't touch it, True, I also added the FFT-1 board, which rose the price just over $1,000. If you're a CW enthusiast, the FFT-1 board is a must. The CW decoding works great (if you know what you're doing) I still have to work on the PSK an RTTY decoding. I just have a little Super Antenna set up in the living room, tuned to 10M. However I get excellent reception on 20, 40 and even 80 meters! This is one great little radio.
I plan on getting the SCU-17 USB interface, the FH-2 Remote Keypad and the DVS-6 Voice Memory Unit (before you can't get them anymore).

Great radio

I sold my 50 year accumulation of equipment, plus my late Dad's toy room, just to buy one of these about 3 years ago. It's great- everything I expected performance-wise. It suffers, however, from the same illness as all of the competition- add-ons that really should be standard equipment. The best example is programing software and interfacing cables. When you spend thousands of dollars for a radio, it should come standard with everything you need. Just one OT's opinion!

Super Radio!! k7sfc

This radio is not my first ,but it is the best I've ever owned. It is comparable to radios that cost much more. I've talked all over the US and only have a Maldol HVU-8 antenna, space restrictions. I would recommend this radio to anyone, as Yaesu has done us a very good turn in making this hf radio available to us hams Steve k7sfc

Great Rig

This is my first HF rig I purchased since getting my license about 6 months ago. I feel this has lots of features for the price. It had a major discount on it when I bought it, which was the only reason I felt I could afford it. Very happy with the performance, even on a basic G5RV antenna. Everyone that I have attempted to contact could hear me clearly and gave good reports back. I was even surprised to bust up a few pileups lately even though I was only pushing 100W. I think that this is a great starter rig. I don't know how it compares to the >$3000 rigs, but it works great for where I am at right now.
