I have had the ATAS antenna since they originally came out from Yaesu, originally the Yaesu FT-857 and have now added the FT-991A. Both continue to work flawlessly with the ATAS antenna system and I use them for mobile/POTA ops. Granted, “shooting” an end-fed up in a tree does work better, but you lose an hour or so with setup and takedowns, and I make a good number of contacts with the ATAS system. So simple to use. I ground (or tripod) mount, lay out 5-8 ground radials (I want to try the Faraday fabric!) and I am ready to go in 10 minutes.
In all the years I’ve had it I have snapped (or badly bent) 2 whips … so that is the reason for the purchase! Enjoy! 73’s!
