Chameleon 17’ whip
Review by
GOAT
I have the MPAS system and use the 17’ whip for it as well as 2 for delta loop configuration. Last activation wind blew and tripod tiled over and broke a whip. (My fault) but I was upset about loss and absence of extra whips; so I immediately wanted reinforcements and bought two more to have in case!! These whips are well made and are robust. There are many that many as who’s but these are very good. Giga had 2 new ones at my house two days after I ordered, they did great too.

CHA-SS17 Beef Cake
Review by

Compared to my Wolf River 17" whip, The Chameleon is very beefy, high quality & well made. I use 2 on the Intellitron AA-1602 Flat Top Dipole mount for POTA & will tune 20-6 with ease. Great product & 2 day shipping from Giga Parts!

I recently purchased the CHA-SS17 and use it in conjunction with the CHA-SPIKE BASE. The whip performed well while camping at LBL in Northern Tennessee. I'm getting SSB contacts from much further than expected. GigaParts free shipping delivered in two days!!

Very nice but...

This is a very nice 17 foot collapsible antenna.
However, it wouldn't screw into a 3/8 - 24 mount.
It looked like the threads were plated and thus too big.
No problem
It has two flats at the base which made it easy to clamp in a vice. I then ran a 3/8 - 24 die down the threads, using cutting oil.
That fixed it. Simple.
Works very well.
Highly recommended as long as you have a vice and a 3/8 - 24 die available.
