Cougar VANTAR S RGB Scissor-Switch Gaming Keyboard - Black

First off. Don't buy this keyboard expecting a stellar gaming keyboard. That's not it's primary purpose in life. For those of you who know what this is then you will already understand that, but if you are purchasing this and all you are planning on using it for is gaming, I would say look at Cougar's other models as they do make some great gaming keyboards as well near as I can tell. I bought this keyboard because it's so hard to find a really good Scissor frame keyboard. I'm a Systems Engineer, and I do a LOT of programming for some reason and these things are the ticket. It's precise enough that you know you have hit the button, but the keys are nice and low and your fingers can just float above the keys. Minimal movement is required to navigate the keyboard and it's just more efficient. These are also called butterfly frame keyboards, but this is what you typically find on apple machines. I'm not an apple guy, but they have gotten a handful of things right and this style keyboard was one of them. This one is affordable and provides a fantastic typing experience. I was coming from a razer Huntsman 3 mini and it's a great gaming keyboard but when I was writing a lot of code I found myself feeling clunky on the keys. This one alleviates all that.

It's very easy to keep clean as well. Stuff doesn't get down into the keyboard like what you typically see on most other keyboards. It will also do fine for gaming, but don't expect a super clicky feel like what you get with true mechanical keys or lighting fast response like the optical switches. This is a typists keyboard. If you are a software developer, copy editor, technical writer or really using it for anything that requires a lot of typing then you will really like this thing. You can just float over the keys.
