Q: Is carbon fiber conductive?

A: Yes. Unlike fiberglass, carbon fiber is mildly to moderately electrically conductive. It's not a good conductor like copper or aluminum, but it's far from an insulator.

Q: Does that matter for a mast that's just holding up my antenna?

A: It can. If a wire antenna runs directly against or taped to the mast, the mast can pick up RF energy from the wire rather than staying electrically separate from your antenna system. At low power, less than 100w, this effect is negligible. At higher power — especially with an amplifier and a tuner — enough energy can couple into the mast to heat it up.

Are replacement sections available?

A: Yes, you can find them available HERE

Explorer POTA33H Heavy Duty Portable 33 ft Telescopic Carbon Fiber POTA Mast

Are you looking for a portable mast that's designed to perform in the toughest conditions? Look no further!

The Explorer POTA33H has all the great benefits of the Explorer POTA33, but with larger diameter sections for increased strength and rigidity.

Ultra-Portable: Made from carbon fiber, the POTA33H has an incredible strength to weight ratio. This is ideal if you're setting up your antenna on the go, especially for POTA or SOTA trips.
Impressive Reach: Despite being compact, the POTA33H extends to a full 33 feet, giving you a significant advantage when transmitting or receiving signals. A higher antenna generally translates to better range.
Durable Construction: Carbon fiber is known for its strength and rigidity. This ensures the mast can withstand the elements and accidental bumps while remaining stable.

If you're an amateur radio (ham radio) operator or someone who needs a portable mast for outdoor use, the Explorer POTA33H is a great option to consider. Its portability, reach, and durability make it a valuable tool for anyone who needs to set up a reliable antenna in the field.

Overall, the GigaParts Explorer POTA33H Heavy Duty Portable 33 ft Telescopic Carbon Fiber Mast is a compelling option for anyone who needs a portable and durable antenna solution.

Good lightweight mast

Review by Don

This is a good mast that can support a reasonably weighted center fed dipole and coax. Most masts this weight cannot hold coax. Gigaparts customer service was great when there was a shipping issue.

Thanks to Jason from hamradio2.0 for working with Gigaparts to do another make an offer night.

Overall

Very happy with purchase

Review by W8MRL

The POTA33H has met my expectations. It's strong, only two pounds and it provides a great means to elevate a wire antenna. It's much stronger than the POTA20 ( which I'll be selling now at Hamvention 2026), although the POTA20 IS a very good product also. If you POTA or camp, this is a great choice for getting on the air.

Overall

Great

Review by Fritz

I am really happy I purchased this. I have the smaller 20’ and it really moves in the wind. The heavy duty version it much more confident. It could use an endcap with a stake option or guy out disc. I use it from my truck with a trailer hitch extension for a flag pole holder and have no issues.

Overall

Perfect

Review by KE9DSK

What can i say, compared to what i was using, this thing is awesome. Lightweight, easy to transport. Definitely recomend.

Overall

Super Sturdy

Review by Derek

This mast is incredibly sturdy. I have had it for a couple of weeks and it has been good so far. I added the 3d printed guying ring that K8MRD reviewed on his channel and it’s a time saver. Setup with a lighter dipole or end fed antenna is under 5 minutes. I would buy it again.

POTA 33 H heavy duty 33Ft telescopic carbon mast

Review by Ham Dad

I am very satisfied with my new POTA 33H Carbon telescopic Mast. It light weight but strong. The price was great too.

Overall

Not to happy with the quality.

Review by KS4FLA

I bought this mast because the end mast shaft snapped on my POTA33 thinking it would be more durable. Well, the shaft didn't snap, but the top on this one pulled off all from lifting an EFHW wire 2-3 inches above a branch to bring it down on the poles first use. There was no tension on the wire and I did not yank, pull nor was the wire snagged on the tree limb. Right now I am not impressed with either of these POTA poles. Might have to look at a different brand.

Overall

Great mast. Twist section tightly!

Review by Dustin

With a light wind, the mast worked itself loose and folded down quickly with a crash, twice. The third time I put it up, I twisted the sections much more tightly and had a great time, making DX contacts. The top cap is extremely tight. So tight, I need to unscrew the bottom cap, remove the mast sections and stick a broom handle in the tube, to pop off the cap. It’s definitely not coming loose, on its own. It would be great to have spike and guy accessories available on Gigaparts. Looking forward to taking out the mast on a POTA activation.

Overall

Don’t Hesitate, YOU NEED THIS MAST!!!

Review by w0nq

Superb construction, so much better than my old mast. I was used to using a carbon fiber mast that flexed so much that I gave up considerable height. Not now though, this is a beast of a mast. You will not be dissapointed in any way. Buy once /cry once, the 33’ mast isn't terrible but still flexes plenty but the 33’ heavy duty is so very much worth the upgrade, buy it and never look back, you’ll be grinning ear to ear looking up at the height you’ll have your wire. It is the real deal 100%. If you want height with very little flex get this.

Overall

Best portable mast i have seen.

Review by Ron

Lightweight and very stable compared to heavy fiberglass. Packs short and light. Ideal for both my "heavy' kit for car travel and will be taking for airline travel soon in chicked baggage for the "light" kit. Slips in the side of a backpack in the drink pocket and the strap at the top. Very easy to set up with a printed guy bracket and printed screw-on spike.

I expenct it to be very website in how I use it too.

Finally, Gigaparts came through when I had a purchase question about price and that sealed the deal.
