Q: Is carbon fiber conductive?

A: Yes. Unlike fiberglass, carbon fiber is mildly to moderately electrically conductive. It's not a good conductor like copper or aluminum, but it's far from an insulator.

Q: Does that matter for a mast that's just holding up my antenna?

A: It can. If a wire antenna runs directly against or taped to the mast, the mast can pick up RF energy from the wire rather than staying electrically separate from your antenna system. At low power, less than 100w, this effect is negligible. At higher power — especially with an amplifier and a tuner — enough energy can couple into the mast to heat it up.

Are replacement sections available?

A: Yes, you can find them available HERE

Explorer POTA33H Heavy Duty Portable 33 ft Telescopic Carbon Fiber POTA Mast

Are you looking for a portable mast that's designed to perform in the toughest conditions? Look no further!

The Explorer POTA33H has all the great benefits of the Explorer POTA33, but with larger diameter sections for increased strength and rigidity.

Ultra-Portable: Made from carbon fiber, the POTA33H has an incredible strength to weight ratio. This is ideal if you're setting up your antenna on the go, especially for POTA or SOTA trips.
Impressive Reach: Despite being compact, the POTA33H extends to a full 33 feet, giving you a significant advantage when transmitting or receiving signals. A higher antenna generally translates to better range.
Durable Construction: Carbon fiber is known for its strength and rigidity. This ensures the mast can withstand the elements and accidental bumps while remaining stable.

If you're an amateur radio (ham radio) operator or someone who needs a portable mast for outdoor use, the Explorer POTA33H is a great option to consider. Its portability, reach, and durability make it a valuable tool for anyone who needs to set up a reliable antenna in the field.

Overall, the GigaParts Explorer POTA33H Heavy Duty Portable 33 ft Telescopic Carbon Fiber Mast is a compelling option for anyone who needs a portable and durable antenna solution.

So far so good

Review by Tim

So far I like it! Time will tell if it holds up, but seems strong and very lite weight!

I like it

Review by K5FMJ

I like the mast, the only issue that I had is on one of the sections there is a small delamination after the first us.

Overall

Love the light weight and the stiffness of the antenna compared to fiber glass

Review by Chuck

Love the antenna; if there was one aspect I would change it would be that the top cap was also screwed in like the lower one is. The upper cap can come off too easily when the transporting.

Amazing Mast!

Review by KD2SML

I am in awe of how stiff this mast is! My biggest hindrance in POTA and SOTA activations was my mast bending over when any tension was put on the wire, including my 10 meter Spiderbeam. In spite of being so stout, it weighs nothing. Advertised weight is about 1 kg, in a 2 foot long package. I'm beyond impressed. This mast was well worth the wait of backorders. I only wish I had it in time for Field Day.

I like it

Review by UnkleJimmy

It has worked very well the handful of times i have used it. It has supported a light weight homebrew EFHW and a light weight homemade doublet in an inverted V. Im impressed with how rigid it is for its size. I look forward to using it for years to come.

Great mast

Review by Kn4mfk

I bought the 33 foot mast and loved it but wanted something heavier to hold up to the weight of other antennas, I got the POTA 33 ft he mast and love it. I highly recommend this mast to anyone who wants to setup and do field day or POTA. Or just play radio in your backyard. This is easy to catty and sets up really fast. Great build quality and for the price it can’t be beat.

Review by KW9D

Used the 33H for a POTA activation recently. Very impressed with sturdiness; held my portable ZS6BKW antenna without guying no problem!

Great Product

Review by Mike

I've only used on an EFHW so far but it worked great. Next up a home grown dipole, I'm sure it will be great.
