Intellitron MM-2106T 5in Tri-Magnet Mount with 3/8x24 Connector with 17ft coax PL259

I have two of these. I've used them in state QSO parties in Florida (45 counties) and New York (23 counties) at highway speed with a Little Tarheel Pro from Tarheel Designs. Rock solid with that antenna, which is a LOT more wind load than something like a Hamstick. However, it is not perfect out of the box. The ground connection for the coax is just made through some paint ground off the base plate and the bare braid is clamped between a plastic cup and the base plate. Not good enough for the long term, especially at high power. So I drilled a hole in the plate and put a lug with on the braid, then used a toothed lock washer and all-stainless hardware to attach it to the plate. I wouldn't recommend using this mount at any power level over 100 W or in a bad-weather climate without making that modification. As another reviewer recommended, I also orient two magnets forward and one to the rear when setting the antenna on the roof.

I recently purchased this magnetic mount along with an array of Ham Stick antennas. The mount and 20m ham stick performed flawlessly on a recent road trip from Redding to Sacramento, about 200 miles each way @ 70-75 mph on the Interstate. The mount was easy to install on the trunk of my Nissan Altima & the 17ft of coax was more than enough to reach the front seat and my FT-710.

I must admit I was wondering if it was going to hold, but hold it did. No problems at all. The mag mount was rock solid. When mounting, I placed the 2 magnets adjacent to each other at the top of the trunk & single magnet at bottom. This I believe provided greater resistance to any force against the antenna pushing it rearward.

I purchased this magnet mount for a 20-meter ham stick. I have not driven with the antenna on because it is 8' in length on top of my pickup truck. I have put the antenna in the mount and used it without moving the truck. I am 100% positive it would hold if I decided to drive with the antenna in the mount. I am just worried that the antenna will get caught on something. I am very happy with this mount. I am using it for POTA. 73
