Description
Rothammels Antenna Book
-FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH-
For many years, radio amateurs have been using this reference book, which has acquired a firm place in amateur-radio literature as an "antenna cookbook." Dating back to the fifties, it has developed into a comprehensive reference book for practical use, which has been publishedin numerous German-language editions.
In the interest of a generally comprehensible presentation, theory is deliberately simplified, but practice is treated in great detail so that even readers without special technical training are able to reproduce the described antennas without any problems. But the antenna book will also offer the "old hands" something new, give suggestions for their own developments and provide an overview of the international state of antenna technology from the point of view of amateur radio.
The demand for the German-language editions published to date suggests that this practical method of sharing knowledge will also be popular on an international level. Some antenna forms of regional relevance became internationally known only by the description in amateur radio literature. In this way, they were included in the worldwide exchange of experience among ham-radio operators and further developed. The antenna book wants to be a link in this exchange of experience because it makes even less well-known developments and constructive solutions accessible to more radio enthusiasts interested in antenna technology.

Rothammel's Antenna Book
Review byw0vt
Best antenna book I have ever purchased. It's very complete and I prefer it over the ARRL antenna book. It covers a huge number of antennas and is fairly detailed as well. Only regret is, I wish the book physically was a little larger with larger font size. (Age is 87 and eyesight is not what it used to be.) The book is not inexpensive but well worth the investment.

Good resource
Review byKen W1OT
PROs: The book is a wealth of information. The translation is good and so far I have not found anything in the content that was incorrect or poorly presented. This is a valuable reference to have available. I am extremely grateful that this work is available for us.
CONs: The book is thick, 1600 pages in one paperback. Already, after only a few days with the book, the spine is wrinkled. The book does not lay flay on the bench. I would have preferred a two- or three-volume set. If they do a three-volume hardback set that was bound to lay flat, I would gladly pay three or four times as much. Another alternative is a three-ring binder version printed on larger sheets. I expect to make good use of this book, so I would like it to hold up to frequent use.

Outstanding reference
Review byTerry
This is an incredible reference book for your antennae. It is a large book, about 1,600 pages, but that is because it goes into detail for each antenna type. Gigaparts had the book $30 less than another big store.

A compilation of all topics related to antennas and their ancillaries. A great resource for amateurs radio who enjoy experimenting and building their own equipment and antennas. It is not a book for beginners!

Heavy Duty
Review byDale K8TS
This is a heavy-duty antenna book. A to Z. If it is not covered in this book, you will probably not find it. It is not a competitor to the ARRL antenna book, rather a deep dive into antennas, baluns, transmission lines and all assorted and related items. It is a text worthy of college engineering classes. If you are just looking to build a dipole for 40 meters, this is not your book. No instructions but hard facts and information regarding what it needs to be. 1600 pages of formulas, diagrams, and charts. And as one reviewer wrote, small print.
