Had several 818s for 3.5 yrs. Furthest contact was poland in spring 21. 6 watts with 59 signal. I will be setting up in large tent for weeks at a time once these fires clear hear in NM.

Band down button

Everything about this radio was perfect except the band down button was difficult to operate. It was necessary to really dig a finger into the button to get it to work.

It cost $49.00 to insure and ship it back to Gigaparts. They would not send a shipping label for this dead on arrival issue.

Customer service was very quick to look for a reason not accept the return. Fortunately, the problem was discovered quickly. If you buy from Gigaparts test everything right away because they don't give you much time.

Out of curiosity, I checked around and at least one of Gigaparts' competitors would have paid for return shipping in the case.

loved this unit. Got the Tac carrier and go bag for it and other accessories and gel cell battery.. used it at picnic table.
