This thing is *STOUT*

I mean, it's as stout as plastic could be. It feels great, it goes on easily. The button and control cutouts are thoughtful and don't get in the way of operation. The connectors on the back are all easily accessible. If you use a tripod when you're operating, this comes with a thingy so you can put the tripod on still (I use a nice little desktop tripod to elevate the FTX-1 for more comfortable operating and this still all works like it did before). Good fit and finish, no sharp edges, just quality.
My only complaint is the Gigaparts Explorer case doesn't fit when this is on the FTX-1, I'll need to find another solution for that in the backpack. I blame Gigaparts for that, and when they put out a new case I'd be happy to help them test it :)

Excellent protection and gives it an impressively robust appearance. Obviously, the small size of the original unit is somewhat diminished by the extra protection.
