Yaesu SSM-517A Yaesu Earpiece Microphone

The item came well pack from GigaParts as usual, cant beat that store. The item is functional however Yaesu just never did figure out attachment jack placement on their hand held radios. i have a FT-2D & FT-5D, both mic jacks are on the side, not a good placement but I understand space limitations. Yaesu then makes an Earpiece / Mic item with a big long plug that sticks out 2" from the radio but does start to bend at about 1.5". Clearly the designer never carried the radio on his hip much. Placement in a vest pocket is not an option either. The Mic sounds like a cheap Chinese option. So kind of disappointed with that system - they could of at least made a 90 degree plug that would have worked. If you buy the Yaesu mic & camera accessory, same issue big plug straight out of the case.
