Original Icom 706 replacement
Review by Kurt
Wow. This rig is the bee's knees. I liked it so much I bought the IC7100 for my mobile rig. Will be taking my General Nov 6th. I purchased these radios to kick myself in the butt! Thinking about a flagpole antenna due to living in a gated HOA just off South Padre Island.. I have always liked ICOM rigs and I continue to use them!

Great radio
Review by Joe
I bought the 7300 just a couple weeks ago. I was interested for some time, but did not like the idea of having to go through tons of menus in a small touch screen. I have a Kenwood TS590SG, and I really love that radio. It does everything it does extremely well. I finally decided to get one for its use in digital modes. My friends who purchased it have loved it, and a couple of the guys were pretty new to Ham radio, and they had the rig up and running in very short time. I finally went ahead and ordered one. I was on the air in about 15 minutes after getting it out of the box. I have been using it only since getting it. I can turn it on and I’m ready to go right away. It is extremely intuitive. The menu is very simple to use and laid out perfectly. I have not tried the digital modes yet, but will in the next few weeks as I have time. One of the reviews I read of the 7300 vs. the Kenwood TS590SG said it best. Both are excellent radios, but they are different. The 7300 is like a sports car, and the TS590SG is like a luxury car. I think that was a great explanation. You can’t go wrong with either radio, but the 7300 is fast and easy to get on the air.

I bought this radio as gift for Father's day, my dad really enjoyed this gift, the IC7300 is one of the best radios of the last years and the performance, filters and other features are awesome! I'm waiting to receive mine as well! we are very happy to make deal with GIGAPARTS, the radio arrived in 2 or 3 days to a friend's home in Miami and we received the radio in Costa Rica in a good condition and with all the parts working fine! THANK YOU GIGAPARTS! you're my favorite HAM RADIO shop!

Best in class radio
Review by RadioMan54
I graduated from an IC-746 Pro, and have been very happy with this rig. Since the Pro was my first HF transceiver, I had very little adapting to do in becoming accustomed to operating my 7300. The things I like most are the touch screen interface, the USB connectivity, and the overall design and control layout were the next logical evolution of Icom amateur radios. There are so many things this radio does right it is hard to find an area that it does not excel in. i am very pleased with the 7300 and the fact it can be used for all modes makes it the one radio you should have if all you can have is one. In fact, I like the 7300 so much that when I decided to get a rig for individual use as a portable station, I decided to get a 7100. I wanted a small package like Elecraft makes but I did not have the money to invest in their offerings, but the 7100 was within my budget. Just as well, because the operation of the 7100 is again a very intuitive and porting skills to operate this model and other Icom transceivers made by them is almost too easy and a natural progression.

Not all of my equipment is Icom, but I can see that they are one company that knows what they are doing when it comes to the design and function of their radio gear.

Thrilled
Review by Jim N6JBC
Although I seem to be having antenna trouble, I am thrilled with the radio. It is Performing well beyond what I was expecting. I have been out of the hobby for over 20 years, I am very pleased with the way I can tune out the noise floor a great deal. By getting rid of the majority of the back ground noise, It's easier to hear the conversations. At my age, that's very helpful with listening to the radio. I have been an Icom fan for most of my HAM life, And this radio makes it even better. I will say one thing about GigaParts, They can't be beat. I placed my order on Monday, and everything arrived on Friday morning. Now that's fast service, they listed 3 to 10 days, and it got here in 4. Thank you GigaParts....

Excellent Radio
Review by Anthony
Although I have an Icom 7100 with roughly the same performance characteristics, I bought this radio for the touch screen and I am glad that I did. I ordered it from Gigaparts and I am also very glad I did. The radio performs well. The ATU works exceptionally well. The only problem I have had, and it's a minor one, is that the mic gain has to be turned up almost to 100% on my Heil Pro Set II. Apparently there is a known issue there that was supposed to be fixed with a firmware upgrade, but I have the latest firmware and I can't get the radio to send voice without the mic gain turned all the way up. Keep in mind this is probably a defect in the Headset, not the radio, as the regular microphone works just fine with it.
Another favorite feature is the fact that you can type using a keyboard on the touch screen and preset a series of macros used to send CW. So you can automate your CQ and your contest calls quite nicely.
The on-board sound card means you do not need an external interface to run PSK, RTTY, or FT8 on this radio. The Auto-Detect features in Ham Radio Deluxe pick this radio up and set it up effortlessly. I really like this radio.
And from prior experience, I know that GigaParts stands behind its products.
