The web info for the PDC-3406 "https://intellitron.com/pdc-3406/" suggests it includes "2 Pairs of 35A Rated 5-Way Binding Post Outlets." What "5-way" means over the decades has changed a bit, but all definitions include the case where a hole through the post exists to insert wires to be held in place with the upper plastic piece. I bought this unit expecting to use these holes for low current accessories. No such hole exists in this model eliminating one important means to attach low current wiring to DC power. Another problem with the posts is the lack of a large conductive shoulder for a ring terminal to make contact for high current applications. Instead we see a small hex surface approximately 8mm side to side nearly flush with plastic surround 14 mm diameter. This shouldn't be of concern for low current loads, but pushing the spec sheet rated 35 amps through the much smaller than typical surface area might produce some heating at this junction.
The circuit board inside looks sensibly designed to handle high currents responsibly.
The power cord with recent units is a generous six feet in length rather than the often stated three feet. The insulation on the power cord is very thick, while the thin stranded wire inside looks to be close to the stated 8 gauge. The #10 lugs aren't of much use so expect to re-terminate to your power supply's connections. The wire in the cord uses very thin strands... for maximum flexibility no doubt. If you need to terminate the power cord into the wire ports of, for example, the set screw wire clamping outputs of an Astron SS-30M-AP, you will likely need to crimp a ferrule onto each wire. The thick insulation may make this chore a bit more cumbersome, but it can be done.
Overall this product is a good value with a good mix of ports and is, as the data sheet suggests, "designed to distribute DC power for a 'typical station.'" Indeed it is, but the "4-way" binding posts are a clear design blunder.

This is an excellent way to engineer your radio station power distribution and facilitate fault isolation for troubleshooting.

Great piece of kit

I don't really know what I was expecting with this device, but it is much better than I could have hoped. it is a solid build and just what I needed to drive 12 volt accessories in my shack. Don't hesitate on purchasing if you need PowerPole connections to get you going in your shack. Easy to mount and easy to use. Love that GigaParts always seems to have what I need, when I need it and at a good price. And the reward points that quadruple with my Rewards Plus subscription makes it even better. There is always a good deal to be had with reward points.

Almost perfect

Beautiful planning and construction. My only complaint is that the lugs on the end of the supply cord are too small. They do not fit over the output studs on an Astron 30-amp power supply.

Better than expected

With the demise of MFJ I could no longer order the MFJ-1124 power strip. Intellitron came to my rescue with this amazing power strip. It is the MFJ clone. The build quality is excellent and it powers my station trouble free. This unit made in China comes with Chinese fuses. I don’t trust them and I replaced them all with Buss and Littelfuse’s. They are inexpensive and gives me added peace of mind.
Do not hesitate to buy the Intellitron PDC-3406. It is well built and it works.
