I purchased a FT-3D as my C4FM radio. I'm older and don't have the sharp hearing and eye sight I used to have. The FT-3D audio was very hard for me to hear and took all I had to operate it out in the sun. I opted to add the FT-70 to my collection. Best move I've made. If you're into satellites, the FT-3D is probably your better choice, but for day to day use on C4FM, the FT-70 is great. Audio is sufficient and radio is easy to use, especially if you're a Yaesu HT user. Great radio.

Intuitive
Review by Kevin
Got the radio yesterday and was able to program easily. It is a goldilocks HT at this price point. Do yourself a favor and buy the SBH-28 Rapid Charger. If you don't have to have flashy color displays and a touchscreen, this is a great choice.

this is a very economic radio, the features on it makes a very good first digital fusion radio, overall excellent radio and fast shipping ;), only downside is the lack of a cradle

It's the family sedan of the Yaesu digitally enabled radios.

I purchased this radio from Gigaparts a few weeks back. It is a low price point way to get onto Wires, and get to work Yaesu Digital and analog. Not a lot of wiz bang features, but that is to be expected for the price. Having to adjust volume by pressing a button and turning the knob at the same time is odd. Audio is good. Hope it lasts as long as my still working FT60, which it replaced. If your on a budget this model should work for you.

GigaParts great chat staff
Review by Bill
Just want to rave up the GigaParts chat staff. They're they best. Every time I get online with them I buy something, because they keep pointing me right to the item I want. Also love my Yaesu FT-70D, so not holding it against them. But I need to quit buying accessories, so don't take it personally if you don't hear from me for awhile. Although I am thinking about an exterior antenna now... But no.

My favorite radio to use ! This is a powerful radio when using WIRESX or repeaters. Excellent sound quality on both RX/TX utilizing System Fusion. A great buy for the buck for many years of enjoyment !

Great HT minor flaws
Review by Robert
Everything works great got it for C4FM our repeater has it so easy to program I only use the computer software to backup or move channels around if needed. Sure battery life is very low but there is the car charger and power cord that charges faster and can power radio while using it also take battery out while not using it. Only down side is the common crack in led lights doesn’t seem it would leak water into radio but a answer from Yaesu on that would be nice.

Excellent HT!
Review by Peter
I am really impressed with the quality and features of this little HT. Audio on both tx/rx is outstanding, and performance on analog and Yaesu Fusion is excellent. Along with the HT, I bought the desk charger and programming S/W and cable, which makes setup a breeze. I always use low tx power, so battery life is OK for my use.

programming
Review by dusty
With all one's noted repeaters, and their settings, and whatever other channels, who has the time to spend half a day programming a radio?

Whether one is using Yaesu's PC-based programming tool, or the Chirp program, what a hassle. Like, seriously, a huge big hassle. One must literally follow the instructions half a dozen times before it will go through. Not to mention the juggle involved with putting the power cord/battery in/out/in/out. Not happy with that. If fast programming is important to one, do not get this radio.

Otherwise, very solid HT unit.
