To prevent stringing, brittle extrusions, or uneven matte surface texture, dry your PLA Matte filament prior to printing if exposed to ambient humidity:

Desiccant & Storage: Store in an airtight container with active desiccant pouches.
Drying Oven: 50°C for 8 hours in a dedicated filament drying oven.
Heatbed Method (X1 / P1 Series): 60°C to 70°C for 12 hours on the printer’s heatbed with a filament enclosure cover.
AMS Dryer Mode: 55°C for 8 hours (for AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT users).

Does Bambu Lab PLA Matte require a special nozzle?
No. Bambu PLA Matte prints reliably with standard stainless steel or hardened steel nozzles across all sizes (0.2mm, 0.4mm, 0.6mm, and 0.8mm).

How do I use the Bambu PLA Matte Refill option?

PLA Basic has a glossier finish with slightly higher layer adhesion and tensile strength, making it better for high-stress functional parts.

Why is my PLA Matte printing shiny or showing glossy bands?
PLA Matte turns shiny when printed too hot or too slowly, which allows the plastic surface to melt smoothly instead of forming its micro-textured matte finish. To restore a uniform matte look, lower your nozzle temperature slightly (towards 190°C–200°C) or increase your outer wall print speed.

Does Bambu PLA Matte filament need to be dried before printing?
Yes, for the cleanest matte texture and zero stringing, dry the filament prior to use—especially if left unsealed in humid environments. Dry in a blast drying oven at 50°C for 8 hours, in an active AMS dryer at 55°C for 8 hours, or on an X1/P1 heatbed at 60°C–70°C for 12 hours.

Is PLA Matte more brittle than standard PLA?
Matte filaments contain light-diffusing additives that can make them slightly more brittle than standard glossy PLA, particularly along the Z-axis (layer lines). While plenty strong for everyday models and enclosures, avoid using it for parts subjected to high impact, twisting, or bending loads.
