I've been away from the ham for 20 years. I run across this radio by mistake searching for something else. 20 years ago a 50 watt radio at twice the price of this is what you got. I liked this radio so much I bought one for my truck. Gigaparts had the best going price so I was ready to buy another. Would like to ask one favor. Don't use fedx for your free shipping they put my radio on the neighbors back porch! I'd rather wait a couple more days using USPS ????

High power, high reliability 2 meter mobile rig

I have an FT2900r, it is a great radio that I have used every day for two years without and problems whatsoever, and I needed another 2 meter transceiver for base station use. With the FT2980r you get all the great attributes of the FT2900r, plus another 5 watts of power. This is a great 2 meter radio, and I always get compliments on my audio with the FT2900r. I expect the FT2980r to be everything the previous model is, and I needed a 2 meter base radio with extra punch so this was an easy selection to make. My older one is going mobile. I will be using the new FT2980r for nets, packet, and other 2 meter operations in the shack. The price was hard to beat, and used FT2900r radios are selling for 25% more than this new model from Gigaparts.

Not on 2 M since the days of crystals. Does everything one would want in an analog unit. Even comes with feet for base use. Programming a breeze without expensive programming disk!

Yaesu FT-2980

This is the 2 meter rig that I've been using in the shack the last few months. It will do 5, 10, 30 and 80 watts. It is a good simple rig at a great price.
