First outing it fell over and broke a section. Just save yourself the trouble and buy 2. The cost $12.95 each regular section, plus shipping, it's cheaper to just buy 2 then use one for parts.

POTA20 Mast

Replaces an old SOTABeams fiberglass mast of about the same height. This one is lighter, collapses shorter, and is a lot more rigid. So far, so good.

Replacement sections are hard to get

I liked the mast, but when I was being careless I broke one of the end sections. I was happy to see that replacement sections are sold and I didn't have to buy a whole new mast. Unfortunately I placed my order four months ago (November 2025) and I still don't have my replacement section. It was very frustrating seeing that Gigaparts was selling completed masts, but I couldn't get a replacement section.

Extremely lightweight and compact while still being rigid enough to support an EFHW antenna. It’s the ideal mast for carrying into the backcountry or up to a summit. It’s a permanent part of my manportable HF kit.

My other mast is way too whippy with even a small unun attached at the top. This mast is much more rigid and remains very light and easy to pack.... love it!
