I have only used the mast twice so far and it does exactly what it says. I have had no issues with anything breaking or sections unexpectedly collapsing. I use the Chameleon LEFS 40-10 for reference.
I will say that the color of the last section is more brown than shown in the photos, and the end cap has a wood design printed on it. Not really anything wrong just interesting choices.

The POTA20 worked great for holding the feed end of my 41' EFRW transformer up. Its small collapsed size makes it easy to carry in my equipment pack.

First outing it fell over and broke a section. Just save yourself the trouble and buy 2. The cost $12.95 each regular section, plus shipping, it's cheaper to just buy 2 then use one for parts.

Replaces an old SOTABeams fiberglass mast of about the same height. This one is lighter, collapses shorter, and is a lot more rigid. So far, so good.

Replacement sections are hard to get

I liked the mast, but when I was being careless I broke one of the end sections. I was happy to see that replacement sections are sold and I didn't have to buy a whole new mast. Unfortunately I placed my order four months ago (November 2025) and I still don't have my replacement section. It was very frustrating seeing that Gigaparts was selling completed masts, but I couldn't get a replacement section.

Ideal Backcountry or Summit Mast

Extremely lightweight and compact while still being rigid enough to support an EFHW antenna. It’s the ideal mast for carrying into the backcountry or up to a summit. It’s a permanent part of my manportable HF kit.
