Just WOW!
Review by

I was hesitant at first when trying to decide between the Icom IC-7300 and the IC-7300MK2. I am so glad that I settled on the IC-7300MK2 as it is a fantastic radio. The reception is incredible and I have found there are tons of videos out there to help setup the radio to get the best audio from both transmit and receive.
Being able to utilize the built in HDMI connection for viewing on a portable monitor has been a really nice touch. It gives me the ability to see clearly what is happening on the screen (although the built-in screen is amazingly clear) and to view what is going on from across the room.
I love the addition of an ethernet port on the back to connect the radio to my home network and be able to control the radio remotely from another room of my house. That makes being able to monitor what is going on with the radio so much easier.
Then there is USB-C. Need I say more? It pairs seamlessly with my MacBook and required no additional drivers. I was able to get the radio setup quite easily for digital modes and was impressed with how it performed both using WSPR mode and FT8.
To me there is a clear choice when choosing a new radio. The winner is the IC-7300MK2 as it just has the features that a new radio operator is looking for.

Great base and with new features
I have used the original IC-7300 for 5+ years and love it. When the new IC-7300MK2 came out I found it had the features I had wanted on the original but didn’t want to open the radio and mod it to get. I still have my original one and it will get a dedicated task while I continue to learn the new IC-7300MK2. Once simple feature i have learned already is that the HDMI out is great for teaching but if you set the sound to go out via the HDMI and have it hooked up to a TV or Monitor and are on a different input you may wonder why your radio is very quiet and you can’t hear any output. For that reason, I set mine back to not put sound out through the HDMI. A software upgrade could give you the option to pick both, so it came out via the speaker and the HDMI. But these are little things in the big picture just items we need to get accustomed to. You must ask yourself if those new features are something you want to pay the extra for or not. In my case yes I wanted them. I plan to run a BOG or LOG for the RX antenna since I live in among the neighbors with plenty of RFI producing wall warts etc. Others may not need or want this. Both radios are excellent for their price point and the IC-7300MK2 puts the icing on the cake.

Great Radio

This has been my first new radio upgrade in many years. While I am still learning all the bells and whistles, I am really enjoying it. I don't have a very resonant antenna so the internal tuner has problems with it, so I have an external tuner also and between the two, it makes things happy. A new antenna will be going up in the near future. Since this radio has an Ethernet port, the radio is very easy to connect remotely with the open source WFVIEW software.
I pre-ordered the radio as soon as the pre-ordering became available. I made the first list and got mine a little before Christmas. I am very happy with the radio.
I would highly recommend an IC-7300MK2.

Icom 7300mk2

I’m a cw operator only so this review will pertain to cw only. The receiver is noisy compared to my Kenwood ts 590sg and Ten Tec Omni 7. The mk2 has the APF function and it is a valuable tool. Between the APF and or the noise reduction function they will eliminate all noise. The fan does not come on with keyup. The amp relay can be turned on or off so if no amp, no relay. The t/r relay is on par with the Kenwood 590sg. No issue with clacking relay noise. The best thing for me is that there is no audio thumping in the headphones. As with most radios the rf gain control is another important tool. The menus are easy to use when you want them. Lots of features available. The upgrades are worth it. Enjoy…

Outstanding Radio, Outstanding Experience – Icom Delivers Again
Review by

I couldn’t be happier with my purchase of the Icom IC-7300 MkII from Gigaparts. From start to finish, the experience was exactly what you hope for when investing in a flagship HF transceiver.
Gigaparts shipped quickly, the radio arrived well-packaged and protected, and everything was exactly as described. It’s clear they understand how important proper handling is when shipping high-end amateur radio equipment.
As for the IC-7300 MkII, it absolutely lives up to its reputation. The spectrum scope is incredibly clean and responsive, receive performance is excellent, and the user interface is intuitive even for operators transitioning from older rigs. Icom took an already legendary radio and refined it with meaningful improvements. Whether operating SSB, digital modes, or just monitoring the bands, the audio quality and receiver clarity are impressive.
Gigaparts continues to be my go-to retailer because they combine competitive pricing, fast fulfillment, and knowledgeable support. You can tell they’re run by people who actually understand amateur radio, not just sell boxes.
If you’re considering the IC-7300 MkII, don’t hesitate—and if you want a smooth, professional buying experience, Gigaparts is the place to get it.
Highly recommended.
